In For The Kill

This would have to be one of the stand out tracks on Excision's Shambala mixtape. After hearing the Skream remix back in the day I thought no one else should even attempt to try and better it. But fuck Skrillex absoulutly killed it on this one.
I recently heard a preview of his new track 'Scary monsters and spirits' WOW. It is huuge! Stay tuned as it will be put up here soon as possible..

Gaga

So it seems that everybody is down with Lady Gaga right now. She has the most Facebook fans of any living person, nearly 6 million followers on Twitter and a slew of number 1 hits. Word on the street is that she is behind a lot of her own productions which allows her some respect as an artist. One of her most recent singles 'Alejandro' had official remix duties dealt by some of the biggest names in the biz with some surprisingly great results.

First up relative newcomer Skrillex out of L.A has taken every sound that's 'hot' right now and blended them all into a mysteriously melodious number that will without a shadow of a doubt get the DF pumpin'.

King of all things half beat Rusko has just made the move from London to L.A and is rumoured to be working with some of the biggest names in pop on their upcoming productions. He has taken a bit of a more laid back pop-ish spin on this one, however I think it's a welcome change to the usual ear thrashing, distorted bass that accompanies the Dubstep name of late.

On that note I would like to delve into Dubstep quickly. As you all know we feature a lot of Dubstep on this blog, so I just thought I would clear something up. Dubstep is not defined by the 'WHAMP WHAMP' sound it's defined by the half beat time signature and has it's roots in Reggae Dub (which I can't stand). So next time you're in 'da claah gettin' tipseh' and you hear some "WHAMP WHAMP" before you assume it's Dubstep listen for the half beat and sporadic kick to be sure.

Example of Dubstep without the 'WHAMP WHAMP'.

Doin' it for the thrill.

It's pretty hard not to like La Roux , singer Elly Jackson's voice is nothing short of amazing and with backing by Ben Langmaid's nicely crafted synths La Roux is a winning combination. Being an Electropop phenomenon their tunes have been remixed by the biggest names in the business.

'Quicksand' was their first single release and UK producer Boy 8-Bit has done an amazing job with his remix.

The second single off their album was 'In For The Kill' which dubstep producer Skream turned into a dark and ominous banger. Last Japan put a little bit more pep in it's step with their re-edit.

The third single of their self titled debut is probably their most well known. Bulletproof is a catchy pop gem which I often find myself singing along to (by myself in my room of course). And Foamo who has recently cemented himself as the next big thing in electro turns the volume knob to 11, adding his signature bassline to this tune.

Their latest offering comes to us in the form of 'I'm Not Your toy'. Jack Beats adds their signature wobble to this already bouncy masterpiece turning it into a dance-floor destroyer.

'As If By Magic' has been confirmed by Elly as the next single off the album. I'm pretty excited to hear the remixes that will come with it.
