The two French techno dons have collaborated to release this new Ep on (their own??) Bromance Records. Check out the Soundcloud previews below then go and cop the whole release.
They have just embarked on a "Bromance Tour" across Europe and Northern America, so we can only hope that they brave the 24 hour flight from Europe to OZ for a club tour. There may be a high chance you wont have a brain left after it though.
Schools over for the year, so I can get back to posting some music. Its been a while since I have actually posted anything substantial so I thought I had better make up for lost time with this post. Here is some stuff from some artists who I have been really digging as of late.
Eats Everything, his name seems to be on everyones lips at the moment, he made everyone take notice with the aptly named track Entrance Song and now is scaling the Beatport charts at an alarming rate with the newly released self titled EP on Dirtybird. That little city of Bristol has produced another bass demon.
You don't continually make it into Resident Advisors monthly top 50 chart unless you are making really ,really good music. And Maceo Plex (aka Maetrik) is one person that always seems to squeeze two or three of his tracks into the chart. House music full of substance right here, perfect for hot summer days in the park.
I have Melbourne wizard Mat Cant to thank for this one , heard him play it at Revolver a while back, and it somehow remained in my memory, strange because Revolver and remembering things don't usually go hand in hand.
Drop the Lime, haven't heard a whole lot of new material from the rockabilly fiend. He gives the iconic Surfin Bird a nice little rub over on this number. Yep, bird is still the word.
What makes a memorable electronic track? Well, I guess there is a lot of factors, but perhaps the most important thing is that it has to be unique, and French duo Chateau Flight have done exactly that with Chi Chi Devils . Getting spins from the likes of Erol Alkan and Sven Vath, soooo good.
I was going to make this post supersized, but I have decided against it and will just post the rest of the tracks I have lined up over the coming days. Hope you liked the tunes for the day. More bombs on the way.
BONUS: I am not the biggest fan of the whole progressive sound/scene, but when a track like this comes along there is no way I can dislike it This makes you feel like a fucking superhero.
Steve Aoki's latest hit 'Earthquakey People' gets a remix by Smidgem regular Dillon Francis. As you would expect he brings the tempo back to 110bpm to aqquire that moombahton sound and well, you really just need to listen to this one LOUD..
Spenda C (aka Steve Lind) has been pushing the moombahton sound in Australia way before most of us had even heard of it. He definitley saw the potential right out of the gates and established another moniker with his mate Deckhead under the name of The Mane Thing which is dedicated to the 110 bpm moombah sound.
He sent these insane bootlegs out a couple of weeks ago for free. I honestly cant get enough of these, the play count has gone through the roof!
Dillon Francis' brand new single I.D.G.A.F.O.S (I don't give a fuck or shit) is finally out today. This guy is seriously about to take the world by storm purely because he is pushing these hybrid moombahton beats that are so damn fun.
Head on over to beatport to pick this one up... Do it now!!
It was such a tradgedy that one of the worlds most cool and innovative producers died at such a young age a little over a month ago. Dj Mehdi will forever be remembered by all those who have had the pleasure to listen to his music.
A-Trak put together this minimix as a tribute to his friend...
From humble beginnings late last year, What So Not (aka Emoh Instead & Flume) have clawed their way through various genres & tempos, creating & manipulating synth patches, percussive layers & vocal transpositions. The end result is a sound that cannot be labeled or catagorised, only heard. Now officially signed Ajax'sSweat it Out label, 'What So Not's debut EP will be released in the coming weeks.
'7 Dollar Bill', is the name & title track from this 4 track EP.
Hope you all get right behind these boys as they're definitly pushing the sounds of the future..
I saw this on Skrillex's Facebook page a few days ago and I must say I was instantly intrigued. Not only does this project involve a new Skrillex collaboration with the remaining members of The Doors, it also has other unlikely artists and producers teaming up. The idea was to place a DJ/producer out of their respective genre and team them up with a famous artist or producer of that genre and one that has been around for a while. I think the one I'm most excited about (apart from Skrillex) is Pretty Lights with Leann Rimes and 84 year old country legend Ralph Stanley. By the looks of this video the juxtaposition of these artists will be a thrill not only to listen to, but to watch how they each approach the music creation process as well.
