Do it Like Timmy

HEY!

Here's some new stuff for Y'all;

This is a live mix I just finished for The Warehouse on Fresh FM (Adelaide).
Elmo is Dead - Live Mix Recording from Warehouse - Fresh FM 92.7 (Adelaide) by DJElmoisDead
Thanks to UberJakd & Rubberteeth for gettin me on their show!

& here's a fesh one from the Mix;
A-Trak feat. CyHi Da Prynce - Ray Ban Vision (Elmo is Dead Vs Luckybeard Remix) by DJElmoisDead
Ghetto bmore styled Bootleg, breaking down to 80bpm hip hop in the middle.
It's a re-work of the Luckybeard (One half of Crookers) Remix.
Could only find it on the net @ 160kbp, so iv'e done a complete re-kit + added the old Pon De Floor Snare (which gets a solid reaction, thanks to the recent beyonce re-make...)

My GF's a massive Danny T frother.
She showed me this one a while back. Finally had a chance to get it in a mix.
Really cool, dark, 808 tech house. They've worked the bass so A in the one;
Chris James & Danny T-Return To Klezmer by DannyT

The closer is something a little different for me, Real Indie/Nu Rave styled track from Goose.
Amazing arpeggiated chord progressions & the susstained vocals just send chills up your spine.
There's mumbai science mix the blogs got all other, but I really just like the original
Been out for a couple months now, but it's a super track, def give it a listen;

And here's a straight to the point Edit
Goose - Synrise (Elmo is Dead)

BONUS;
Apparently this still isn't avaliable on the net?! So here's another Smidgem exclusive;
Peking Duck - Style (What So Not Remix)

Trumpet Blower Out..

Beat The Weekend part. 13

After last weeks massive 'Beat The Weekend' post i was a bit concerned that it might be hard to top. As it turns out it was no drama at all. Enjoy..

I had the biggest smile on my face whist listening to this. Took me straight back to the day of the rave. Thankyou Sidney Samson.

Ado is fast becoming one of the most indemand producers/remixers out there. Dropping a new remix every few weeks. Bomb after bomb. He just completed a remix for Krafty Kuts, head on over to beatport to pick it up (its my new favorite)

Everybodys favourite party starter and Smidgem contributer Elmo Is Dead has just whipped up this awesome bootleg. Its a jam for the ladies!

Kids At The Bar... Damn these guys are fucking epic. Everything i hear from them is gold. This one is no exception.

Aussie boys Trumpdisco hit the nail on the head here. This has been getting dropped by The Bloody Beetroots. Respect!

A tech house bomb by Calvin Harris! I found it a little weird he didnt sing over top but either way this rocks.

New Skrillex track. Do i even need to say anything...? Get on it!

Heavyweight remixing heavyweights. You gotta love this!

Don't Call Me Baby

I bumped into the Smidgem boys @ Field Day (SYD) on the weekend and they were like; "Man.. when you gonna do another post??"
Being the NY and all, with it's resolutions & associated 'do-everything-better-this-year' attitude, I decided to make a commitment to write at least one post per month.

Sooo.. January;

In the past year (since getting around to obtaining a Debit Card), I've become a pretty big follower of Beatport & thus, deep/Tech House & other house genres.

A couple things I've noticed about the top 100; Pryda, Deadmau5 & the Swedish house boys (both as separate entities and their mafia trio), are pretty much in there 24/7.
You also get a lot of those re-makes, of re-makes, of re-makes.

A resent one that I've been digging is "My Lips" by Crazibiza which is an appropriation of Pino D'Angio's - "Ma Quale Idea".
This was More famously sampled back in '99 by Pop/Dance sensation Madison Avenue on her track "Don't Call Me Baby"

My Lips is a great house tune, really punchy high end kick, leaving room for the filtered bassline down in the lows, great shuffle groove, nice crisp hat's and the typical African American sounding woman with an powerful voice, belting out some vocal loops for the build up.

If drawn out loop house is your thing, you'll probably really enjoy this track
Others may like it for the fact the hook line is familiar and catchy, but be put off by the distinct less amount of movement in the melody & lack off Madison Avenue vocals

So I have a couple of things for you;

Pino D'Angio - Ma Quale Idea
The original, original. For anyone interested in taking a listen

Madison Avenue - Don't Call Me Baby (Extended Mix)
Classic 90's dance music, love this tune

Crazibiza - My Lips (Original)
The modernised house bomb

Crazibiza Vs Madison Avenue - My Lips (Elmo is Dead 'Don't Call me baby' Edit)
A little mix of both

Peace

Check Deez Dcup's

Hey!

So this being my first post, should introduce myself.
My names Emoh, I'm a DJ/Producer based in Sydney.
I play under the tastless moniker "Elmo is Dead"
Thanks to the Smidgen boy's for getting me on board!

Now to music...
2 Producer/Dj's i've been following for quite a while now; Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP.
Long before their "americano" stardom, DCUP was pumping out a New Disco remix just about every week, dominating the beatport charts.
And Yolanda's Afro Nut's tune, was getting play time from the likes of Surkin, Fake Blood & many more.

I think the two paired together make an amazing combination.
DCUP's phenomenal melodic, 80's Disco synth lines & stabs, combined with Yolanda's solid, contemporary tribal/house.
The result is a club banger with amazing groove, flow and feel.

Check out their Sing Sing Dub;
Jazzbit - Sing Sing Sing (Yolanda Be Cool & Dcup Dub)
A really cool track. The Transposed vocal lines are wicked, great kick & sub pattern & of course Dcup jumping in on the sax for a few riffs & stabs.

Another track of a similar nature is their Hey Hey remix;
Dennis Ferrer - Hey Hey (Yolanda Be Cool & Dcup Remix).mp3
Same Idea, awesome groove and a transposed vocal as the main theme.

If your in for something a little heavier, check out this mix of Americano;
Yolanda Be Cool & Dcup - We no Speak Americano (Elmo is Dead 'Live from Sydney' Remix)
Big Dutch/house synths, on a tribal groove with, a thumping kick & base.

I really feel these guy’s are going to be at the four-front of the club scene as we head into summer.
They’ve managed to appropriate Ibiza styled house music to the electro/disco market of Australia.
So money..

Peace!
