Steve Aoki's latest hit 'Earthquakey People' gets a remix by Smidgem regular Dillon Francis. As you would expect he brings the tempo back to 110bpm to aqquire that moombahton sound and well, you really just need to listen to this one LOUD..
It seems to be all about the collabs of late. It also seems to be working...well. Steve Aoki and Armand Van Helden teamed up to release Brrrat! about a month ago and I must admit that I didn't really get down on the original. However this latest remix EP has some serious awesomeness to it. With remixes from dance heavyweight Bart B More and Beataucue along with a slew of other bangers this thing is well worth the buy. Not to sure when us Aussies will be able to pick it up as it's restricted to 'not us' at the moment but it's so sick it's worth the wait! (But head on over to Beatport any way for a squiz at all the tracks)
Beataucues take on this one is a far cry from their most recent release Disque Oh! and I mean that in the best way possible... I first heard this in their most recent monthly mixtape and was blown away. This thing builds and builds and builds.......then explodes...check it!
So tonight is my last night in Japan and I'm spending the night in Sapporo Japans northern most 'big' city. It's about -15 outside, snowy and windy. Needless to say it's not pleasant outside so I ducked out, took a few photos and now I'm inside with nothing to do but blog. Seeing as I'm in Japan I decided to try and associate my post with something Japanese and the closest I came was Steve Aoki. Mr Aokis foray into producing has seemed to work very well for him. His tunes are definitely on heavy rotation in my iTunes and I'm sure the number of Aoki remixes featuring in party playlists around the world is growing. His semi-celebrity status has earned him the right to 'dance-ify' some really big name tracks, with some amazing results. See Below.
