What So Not (2 Hour Live Mixtape)

"Hope you all get right behind these boys as they're definitly pushing the sounds of the future.."

That's what I wrote a little while back when we featured What So Not (aka Emoh Instead and Flume) and their Seven Dollar Bill EP which got massive support from some huge Djs worldwide.
Well nothing has changed since then. The boys have been back in the studio working on some new tracks and some awesome remixes.

This litterally just got uploaded to soundcloud. Its a 2 hour live set that was recorded with 4 CDJ 1000's and an 800 mixer. The way Emoh described it made it sound more like a work of art than your standard mixtape as it took over 2 weeks in the studio preparing everything and picking the perfect tracks. I can only imagine the pressure when hitting the record button, especially coming towards those last couple of tracks. As you can tell by the tracklist this thing is fucking mental!! Going though a stack of genres that are jump up party style.

Play this motherfucker LOUD!!

Had to post this massive tracklist. I know you guys will love to rape it haha

Moombah Tools for Tools

Sorry again for my extended absence!
Shiz was going all over the place with the WSN EP, Lost a years worth or tunes & edits from a hard drive crash and was super busy over the silly season!

Today I have for you a bunch of edits I've been using for the last couple months. Some of them simple, some of them complex & some of them not even mine!
But this post is all about sharing Moombah love & making Moombah tunes more accessible to the 128bpm Dj (& crowds)

108 - 128BPM
Fix Up Galactic (Emoh Instead Edit) - 2manydjs, Beastie Boys, Dizze Rascle, Herbie, Inxs, Skeet Skeet
Big credit to 2manydjs. I remade something I heard of theirs (that I couldn't find anywhere) & added more samples & fun stuff.

110 - 128BPM
Hollaback Girl (Emoh Instead Edit) - Gwen Stefani Vs R3hab
I usually loop the vocal for a couple bars then let it roll into the r3hab booty. This ones for the ladies.

128 - 110BPM
Que Que Money (Emoh Instead Edit) - Diplo & Dillon Francis Vs Munchi x Caspa
I love que que, but it was a bit drawn out for my taste, so I've only used the good bits!
Also The "wheres my money" hook gets the kids fist pumping!

128 - 110 - 128BPM
My Dick (SPENDA C & KAYLI Bootleg) - Mickey Avalon
Someones probably already posted this on here.. but i dont care

128 - 110BPM
Simon Pop Pussy (Emoh Instead Edit) - Duke Dumont Vs Pharoahe Monch Vs Sazon Booya
It's all about aggression.

110 - 128BPM
Hey Freak (2Deep & Rawb Personal Bootleg Mix!) - Angger Dimas & Gianni Marino
The most boss edit I've ever heard.

105BPM
21st Century Embody (Emoh Instead Edit) - SebastiAn
Great for an intro, or to break up your set, with some down tempo beats.

BONUS
110BPM
Lip Gloss (Emoh Moomb Edit) 2Deep x MikiX Vs Lil Mama
Moombah Party tool

SBTRKT - Pharaohs (What So Not rerub)

What So Not is the joint collab between Flume and Emoh Instead who have both been killing it for a while now in thier own fields. This isnt the first time they've featured here on Smidgem and it definiatley wont be the last. This rerub they they threw up on thier soundcloud is already sitting at number 17 on Hype Machine which is super impressive considering they only put it up last night. This is a super fun and bouncy song that really takes the summer vibe to a whole new level.

It would be awesome if you could help the boys out and hit the little heart on the Hype Machine link to get them to number one.

What So Not - 7 Dollar Bill EP

From humble beginnings late last year, What So Not (aka Emoh Instead & Flume) have clawed their way through various genres & tempos, creating & manipulating synth patches, percussive layers & vocal transpositions.
The end result is a sound that cannot be labeled or catagorised, only heard.
Now officially signed
Ajax's Sweat it Out label, 'What So Not's debut EP will be released in the coming weeks.

'7 Dollar Bill', is the name & title track from this 4 track EP.

Hope you all get right behind these boys as they're definitly pushing the sounds of the future..

Back To The Lab Again

Appoligise For my extended absence...

The last couple months have had me deal with a law suit from sesame street, a change of Dj name, the strenuous task of completing an EP to a deadline, all the while trying to live my double life as a Djing accountant.

Among all the chaos a lot of good things have come. First & foremost, stumbling on some quality tracks

DL Here:
Wat? The Funk!, Laney - Smurf Be Runnin

I can't get my head around how awesome this track is. It's big, it's tight, it's clean, it's dirty, it makes me laugh & it gets me in to mood for good times.
Super airy chords, sustained female vocal hits & tight kick & snare set the mood of the into. Muching in at 28 seconds, is a wacked out delayed synth line, consisting of a messy hoover top layer & clean sine low end.
My fav parts is at 1:49. Tight kick & snare, vocal stabs & an epic clean sub baseline.

Al B Sure 'Night+Day' (AC's moombahsoul mixdown) [ Heartbreak presents Moombahsoul Vol 3 ] by AtlanticConnection

DL Here: Al B Sure - Night & Day (AC's Moombahsoul Mixdown)

Found this on the new moombah soul comp. Was by far my favorite of the bunch.
Great melody & very well produced.

Trading in his dirty birds for squealing monkeys, Claude has come up with a awesome kick, sub & flaw tom groove in chimps. I wasn't the biggest fan of the grungy synth the comes in until I saw this video ;)

Here's a little edit if your just down for the groove.
DL Here: Claude VonStroke - Chimps (Emoh Instead 'No Synth' Edit)

7. Golden Super by Jan Driver

DL Here; Jan Driver - Golden Super (Original Mix)

Fresh from his new album & soon to visit our shores, Jan Drive has been making some amazing tunes. From his epic 'Gain Reaction' (check Dillon Francis' opener @ this years Mad Decent Block Party) to the bigroom funky sounds of golden super.

Rusko - Cockney Thug (Chong Remix)
There's a heap of these 'dub/moombah edits' going round, but Chong's is solid. keeping all the intensity & bass of the original with a moombah groove.

Peace Out

Emoh
