Swiss Dub - Frankenstein Teaser

So Sydney heavyweight Swiss Dub has his EP due out next month. This is one of the coolest and most original dub tracks that I've heard for a while. Its loaded with some awesome samples and will get stuck in your head (be warned) Being the champ that he is, it will be available for free download and comes with some stellar remixes by fellow locals Hydraulix, Autoclaws and Struz.

This time the artist name already takes up half the space of the whole thing: KEITH & SUPABEATZ vs SLAP IN THE BASS. Clearly if we have Italians teaming up with Hungarians, Europe can not be quite as done as they wanna have us believe. So let's all smoke a peace pipe with those guys.

But don't get all chilled out as this 'Smoka' is definitely dope, but more of a dope banger. I gotta admit I am quite surprised about how seriously they throw it down. As if someone mixed speed in their joint or something. Not that they would do joints.

With his remix HIS MAJESTY ANDRE (Cheap Thrills) proves that it's possible to smoke while you boogie hard and disco down. Though your feet will be what's on fire here rather then your cigarette.

DOUSTER (Mad Decent) does it ghetto house style. Using figurative speech to describe his rework you could straight up say he smokes a crack pipe - musically speaking.

We met ASTRONOMAR (Mad Decent) in the smokers lounge of our local Rotary Club. First question we asked him was about his musical intention for the remix he delivered. "I'm goin for a 4AM dark minimal acid throwback vibe" is what he replied. Word.

And now after all these smoking club gems, everybody 'Exhale'. Oh wait. This is not just a bonus track, not just a filler of some kind. This is the lead track! Something went majorly wrong here.

Our good friend Narrator had this in the works a few months ago and with the recent passing of Whitney Houston he felt it was the appropiate time to finish this club friendly edit of 'Dance With Somebody' as a tribute to her. What So Not is the joint collab between Flume and Emoh Instead who have both been killing it for a while now in thier own fields. This isnt the first time they've featured here on Smidgem and it definiatley wont be the last. This rerub they they threw up on thier soundcloud is already sitting at number 17 on Hype Machine which is super impressive considering they only put it up last night. This is a super fun and bouncy song that really takes the summer vibe to a whole new level.

I know this has been out for a little while now but in case you missed it when it dropped (like me) Dubstep heavyweights RUN DMT have mixed up this massive 26 track promo mixtape which is loaded with all thier originals and remixes. These guys are definitly taking this genre in new directions with thier unique sounds and samples. Not one track uses the same sound/style. Now being signed to Mad Decent I'm sure that they'll start blowing up even harder (if possible) with all the support that they'll get from those guys.

So I just stumbled across this young 19 year old dubstep producer from Sydney. Nefeera aka James Russell. Im completely blown away! This kid has mad skills. it wont be long until a label picks him up. He has a 4 track Ep that he is giving out for free very soon. When it does ill throw it up on here so stay tuned!

Nick Thayer - Like Boom EP

This 10 track EP by Aussie legend Nick Thayer completely blew me away!! Like i always considered him to be an amazing 'breaks' producer/DJ but i guess now that everyone is into the 110bpm it wasnt that far a stretch for him to adapt to this moombah style. Dont get me wrong he still has some mad drumstep and dub tracks on here aswell. But yeah all of these tracks are fucking ridiculous. Its so hard for me to name my favourite... This only got released a few days ago on Skrillex's label Owsla. I just bought the whole Ep then over at Beatport. I suggest you do the same!

Porter Robinson - Essential Mix

Knew it wouldnt be long until Porter Robinson was called in to the BBC Radio 1 headquarters to record an 'Essential Mix'. The 43 tracks that Porter chose for this mix are fucking ridiculous and he mixed the whole thing live. Its no wonder this kid is blowing up as fast as he is, considering he has only been on the circuit for little over a year.... Imagine what he'll be up to in one more year.

By now I'm sure you've heard the original by South African 'hip trash' artists Die Antwoord as its been doing the rounds on the net for the last few weeks. Kyro & Bomber have turned this track in to a dance floor destroyer. Im sure this will be in every Dj's set by the end of the week!

Well this certainly is one hell of a compilation. Loaded to the hills with all things moombah. Its great to see Smidgem regular Spenda C and fellow Aussie legends Too Fresh having there bangers involved. Bit of a shame that they didnt put all these tracks together in a mixtape.
