Sydney
Now I thought I would take some time out to talk about some Sydney producers who are cracking the scene at the moment. The first of which is a fella who apparently originates form the Gold Coast but now resides in Sydney who goes under the guise of Blaze Tripp. According to his Soundcloud he describes his music as being "expeimental bassline stuff, but it's always guaranteed to be bangin'" and "bangin'" it is. I'm really loving this remix he has done of The Chemical Brothers new single 'Swoon'.
The Chemical Brothers - Swoon (Blaze Tripp Remix)
This collab with fellow Sydney artist Redial is also noteworthy.
Stop The Noise - Blaze Tripp & Redial
He's also just completed a remix for Smidgem favourite The Living Graham Bond of his new single Winter Hunter.
TLGB feat. Fiona Bevan - Winter Hunter (Blaze Tripp Vocal Remix) by Blaze Tripp
Winter Hunter is out now of Fat! Records available at all the usual suspects.
Now onto a couple of Sydneysiders making waves in the Nu-Disco scene. Softwar have been making some really great laid-back tunes that are a very welcome breath of fresh air in these bass-heavy times. Jeremy Lloyd and Myles Du Chateau teamed up in the 'whirlwind' summer of 2007 to make music that can only be described as a rich tapestry of airy pad synths, funky basslines and an end product that just leaves you feeling better inside. This remix they did for UK band 2 Door Cinema Club has all of the above.
2 Door Cinema Club - Undercover Martyn (Softwar Remix)
Jeremy also sent over this original which is equally as good.
Softwar - Tunnel Vision
Softwar have some big things in the works including a remix for Electronic music legends Groove Armada. The guys play around Sydney non-stop and you can catch them at the legendary Slow-Blow parties so keep your ear to the ground.

From 'Smidgem' With Love
Major Lazer
Diplo, Switch Aka Major Lazer, Now if you didn't know that go back under that rock and save yourself. This is the 10th instalment of the illustrious Mishka Keep Watch mixes The 10th volume features “electro-reggae-dancehall virtuoso and this is definate a must have.
“Major Lazer is a Jamaican commando who lost his arm in the secret Zombie War of 1984. The US military rescued him and repurposed experimental lazers as prosthetic limbs. Since then Major Lazer has been a hired renegade soldier for a rogue government operating in secrecy underneath the watch of M5 and the CIA. His cover is that of a dancehall night club owner from Trinidad and he enlisted the help of long-time allies and uber-producers, Diplo and Switch, to produce his first LP. His true mission is to protect the world from the dark forces of evil that live just under the surface of a civilized society. He fights vampires and various monsters, parties hard, and has a rocket powered skateboard.”
